U23 AFCONQ: Salisu Yusuf beefs up squad with Kwara United’s Chisom Samuel

In a bid to secure the ticket for the next stage of qualifiers for the football event of the Olympics, Head Coach of the U23 National team, Salisu Yusuf has extended invitation to Chisom Samuel of Kwara United FC, to strengthen the team ahead of the second leg match this weekend.

It would be recalled that the team was forced to a one-all draw in the first leg in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania last weekend. The second leg holds at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan this weekend.

The creative winger was handed a late call up ahead of the second leg, which will finally determine who among the two countries goes through.

The Olympic Eagles need to be more clinical in front of goal in the second leg, in order to ensure qualification to the next round.

Chisom Samuel was part of Kwara United’s continental team before the exit of the team from the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup competition.

According the the Coordinator of the U23 team, Bashir Badawiy, who is also the General Manager of Kwara United, Chisom has since joined the squad, and has been sweating it out with the others, in preparation for the final and decisive leg.

The invitation to Chisom has added to the ever growing list of Kwara United players invited to the national teams, as its players have played in the U17, U20, U23 and the home based Super Eagles.

Reacting to the development, Club Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye said that the invitation to Chisom was not a surprise, considering what is he doing, and what he is capable of doing on and off the field of play.

He said that the club will continue to give young talented and ambitious players the opportunity to not only boost their career, but add to the market value of the club.

He charged Chisom to be a good ambassador of the club.
