The Chairperson, Female Football Development Committee of the Kwara State Football Association, Ambassador (Hajia) Rukayat Segilola Alaya has congratulated Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on the victory of the Super Falcons in the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco.

Nigeria swept to a 10th Women Africa Cup of Nations title on Saturday night after a come-from-behind 3-2 defeat of hosts Morocco in a drama-filled Final in Rabat.

Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses had the full-capacity Stade Olympique de Rabat breathing heavily after a superlative opening performance that saw them take a two-goal lead after 24 minutes of the explosive encounter.

The Super Falcons, champions nine times in the 12 previous editions stormed back in the second half with the famed Nigerian spirit, and started their fightback in the 64th minute when the ubiquitous Esther Okoronkwo converted a penalty kick.

Vibrant, fit-fighting Okoronkwo took matters into her own hands again seven minutes later, bulldozing her way into the Moroccan eighteen-yard box and then finding Folasade Ijamilusi who connected sweetly past the goalkeeper. Jennifer Echegini gloriously swept home the third goal from another Esther Okoronkwo free-kick in the 88th minute.

In a release which she personally signed, and made available to sportsbash.com.ng, Hajia Alaya described the victory as hard fought which signposts Nigeria’s spirit of “never say die” .

Hajia Alaya, who is the Founder and Matron, Abruka Queens FC of Ilorin commended and congratulated the President of the NFF, Aisha Falode and the female football family in the country, for the victory.

“I will also want to commend the Super Falcons for successfully achieving the MissionX, against all expectations.

Hajia Alaya equally congratulated goalkeeper Nnadozie Chiamaka and Captain Rasheedat Ajibade for winning the Best Goalkeeper and Most Valuable Player of the competition respectively.
