Chairman of the Kwara State Volleyball Association, Bashorun Kayode Bankole has congratulated the state men’s volleyball team for their impressive outing at the National Sports Festival in Edo, Benin, that saw them ended up as the best overall third placed state at the volleyball event.
Bashorun congratulates the team for a remarkably synergized play that enabled them to outpace and outplay teams at the tournament to add medals to the state performances at the competition, further consolidating their position as one of the leading states in volleyball.
He commended the team for discipline, maturity and focus all through the tournament, and deliberateness in promoting the state flag and accompanying virtues of resilience, persistence and dogged pursuit until victory was achieved.
He similarly appreciated all officials and technical hands that guided the team to win the bronze medal, urging them to remain focused in deploying such energy and talent in subsequent tournaments.
Kwara played a total of four matches in the round robin system, to end third the final arrangement. They defeated host Edo 3-0 in their first match, lost to both Ondo and Kano 3-0 and 9-1 respectively, before beating Yobe state 3-0 to win bronze.
Meanwhile, Kwara Volleyball Coach, Adewale Badamosi was awarded the Best Developmental Coach in Nigeria, alongside with Coach Vincent of Kaduna State.
In his reaction to the award, Coach Badamosi dedicated the recognition to Professor Tunde Adepoju, for his developmental programme, most especially the D-Kit Secondary Schools Volleyball Championship, which he has now sponsored for eight consecutive years.
He also commended the huge contributions of the Chairman of the Association, Bashorun Kayode Bankole, and Special Assistant of Sports and Youth Development, Mallam Attahiru Ibrahim, Mr Ago Olagunju, Mr Dele Olowola, Dr Bakinde, Offa Volleyball Club and host of others, for their support.
