Kwara Falcons Basketball Club have been listed among seven other clubs that will participate in the Louis Edem Foundation organized Invitational Basketball Championship billed to hold between February 6-11, 2023, at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

The team, which is preparing to participate in the BAL Championship in March will use the Invitational Championship to prepare for the continental competition.

Other clubs listed to participate in the competition are Comets Basketball Club of Lagos, Spiritex Knights Basketball Club of Accra, Ghana, Lagos Legends Basketball Club  of Lagos, Abuja Hot-Coal Basketball Club of FCT, Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club of Port Harcourt, Police Baton Basketball Club of Lagos and Raptors Basketball Club of Lagos.

Formerly regarded as underdogs in the system, Kwara Falcons will enter this context as top dogs, having been champions of the last two major basketball tournaments in 2022.

Their victory in the Sam Oguche Bullet Energy Drink Basketball tournament was undermined with claims that certain teams were focused more on the BAL ticket.

Heading to the NBBF Final 8, the Falcons were overlooked with the presence of revered teams like Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club, Kano Pillars, Nigeria Customs and Gombe Bulls.

Interestingly, they made their way to the finals, where they defeated the reigning Mark D’ Ball Champions (Customs) to earn their spot in the 2023 Basketball Africa League season.

The 2023 Louis Edem foundation Invitational Basketball Championship is scheduled to take place in February, 6-11, at the National Stadium Sulurele with lots of Cash prizes.
