Blue House and Yellow House have emerged winners of the female and male versions of the Silver Jubilee edition of Abulenla Volleyball tournament of Arandun Grammar School, Arandun, in Irèpodun Local Government Area of the state.
The competition, concluded at the Volleyball Court of the school on Tuesday July 22, 2025, was witnessed by His Royal Majesty, Oba Ibikunle Adekanye, the Aláran of Arandun, the Aláran-in-Council and the sponsor, Evangelist Richard Adebayo Adeoti, popularly known as Abulenla.
In the female category, Blue House defeated Red House two sets to one (24-19, 22-24, 9-15), while in the Male category, Yellow House denied same Red House by two games to one (27-25, 21-25, 7-15), to both win gold in the school inter-house competition, which was part of the end of session activities of the school.
While commending the sponsor for using the competition to develop the school and the community, Oba Adekanye pointed out that the community is benefitting tremendously from the initiative.
Ọba Adekanye, who was the Royal Father of the day equally commended all those that are assisting in the organization of the competition, which, according to him, is raising the profile of Arandun beyond the state.
The sponsor, Evengelist Adeoti said that he is sustaining the sponsorship of the annual competition to assist in the holistic development of the students, in education and health.
“We need our youngsters to be built not only on education, but also on good health. Education without sound health is incomplete, and we can get that only in sports.
“I am impressed with the development, and I chose to support volleyball in the school because I played the game when I was in school. I am happy and elated, and I felt fulfilled, that the competition is making impact. It’s my noble contribution to my community.
“I thank Ọba Adekanye, the Aláran-in-Council, the school, and the entire Arandun community in general, for giving me the opportunity, and for supporting the initiate”, he averred.
In the message by the school, delivered by the Principal of the Junior Secondary School, Mrs. R. Ó. Olayemi, they observed that sports doesn’t only make people physically fit but psychologically and mentally stable.
“Students need to participate in sports so that they will have the mental energy to cope and study well. We are aware that education is important in building students lives and career, but it’s only when students are mentally and psychologically fit that serious learning can take place.
She commended Evangelist Adeoti for contributing to sporting activities in Arandun Grammar School, adding that since year 2000 when the sponsorship started, it has continue to impact positively on the school and community at large.
The Principal of the Senior School, Mr. Clement Sunday Ajewole and the Chairman of the Education Committee for Arandun Community, Prince Dayo Adewoye, who got an award for his contributions to the community commended the sponsor for supporting sports development in the school and community.
The Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr. Abogunrin Caleb Ademola, who retired from the school as Vice Principal Administration also commended the sponsor, adding that the opportunity has afforded the school to be champions in volleyball in the Local Government and state.
Friends of the sponsor, Mr. Jacob Bayo Komolafe and Chief Kola Adedeji, who watched the finals praised the atmosphere, adding that it has contributed to the development of the community.
Other award recepients at the ocassion were the sponsor, Evangelist Adeoti, Chief S. Ó. Aboyeji, Hon. Gbenga Ajayi, Coach Yemi Oyeleke, Pastor and Mrs. Gbenga Olasehinde, Pastor Yinka Adenigba, Late Sir. J. Ó. Fakayode, Mr. Kunle Abidoye, Mrs. Funmilayo Olaoye, Mrs. Modupe Peter (Nee Oyedepo) and Mrs. Ayomikun Comfort Gemilola (Nee Agboola).
Others are Mr. Clement Sunday Ajewole, Mrs. Rachael Olajumoke Olayemi, Mr. Caleb Ademola Abogynrin and Chief Adedayo Adewoye.
