The Tinubu Support Organization (TSO) has announced the appointment of Bashir Badawiy as its Director of Football, in what stakeholders describe as a strategic move to harness the unifying power of sports for national development and grassroots mobilization.
The appointment, which was ratified at a high-level meeting of the organization, is part of a broader initiative aimed at promoting football development across the country, particularly among youths at the grassroots level.
According to the leadership of the group, the football project will serve as a platform to discover talents, foster unity, promote social inclusion, and deepen community engagement in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, officials of the organization outlined several key objectives to include grassroots talent discovery through an establishing structured football competitions across the six geopolitical zones to identify and nurture young talents.
It’s also for youth engagement and empowerment, using football as a tool to reduce youth restiveness, create opportunities, and promote discipline and teamwork.
It’s equally for national unity and capacity building, bringing together youths from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds under a common platform and organizing coaching clinics, refereeing courses, and administrative workshops to strengthen football management structures at local levels.
The objectives includes strategic mobilization, leveraging sports as a medium for community outreach and civic participation.
Bashir Badawiy, in his acceptance remarks, pledged to deploy his experience and network within the football community to ensure the success of the project. He emphasized that the initiative would be inclusive, transparent, and merit-driven.
“This project is not just about football; it is about building character, creating opportunities, and strengthening national cohesion,” he stated.
In furtherance of its nationwide structure, the organization also endorsed key coordinators across major geopolitical zones to drive the project. They are Mr. Paul Ojo Omamomo (Coordinator, South South), Alhaji Abubakar Abubakar (Coordinator, North East), Abahuraira Dahiru (Coordinator, North West), Mr. Solomon Babanjar (Coordinator, North Central) and Mr. Mojeed Adegbindin (Coordinator, South West).
The Coordinators are expected to oversee zonal implementation, liaise with state chapters, and coordinate competitions and development programmes within their respective regions.
With a structured leadership team and clear objectives, the Tinubu Support Organization’s football project is poised to make significant impact across communities nationwide.
