A Board Member of TETFUND, representing the North Central, Engr Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, has insisted that rallying support for Kwara United Football Club at this critical period will pave the way for the club’s apex league sustenance.
Engr Adeyemi made this known while speaking with journalists yesterday Sunday February 15,2026, in Ilorin, shortly after the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 26 encounter between Kwara United and Kano Pillars at George Agbazika Innih Stadium.
Popularly known as ENACT, he expressed confidence that the Harmony Boys will retain their NPFL status, while noting that Kwara United should have won convincingly against Kano Pillars if their dominant first-half performance had been replicated in the second half.
“As a stakeholder, I will continue to support our team to move out of the red zone. We should have won the game if the penalty towards the end of the match had been awarded, but I don’t know the angle the centre referee used to view the incident,” he said.
Engr Adeyemi commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the comprehensive upgrade of sports facilities in the stadium.
According to him, over the last seven years, facilities at the George Agbazika Innih Stadium, including the Indoor Sports Hall, squash court, and other critical infrastructure, have continued to inspire athletes and boost socio-economic activities within the host community.
He also acknowledged the efforts of the Sports Commission in implementing government policies and programmes aimed at advancing sports development in the state.
In a show of commitment, Engr Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun bought out match tickets to grant fans, supporters, and stakeholders free access to watch and support Kwara United in their NPFL Matchday 26 clash at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, where he was personally in attendance.
Unfortunately, Kwara United were forced to a 1–1 draw in the highly tactical encounter.
The Harmony Boys dominated proceedings in the first half, piling pressure on the visitors with an impressive attacking display. Junior Aimufua, Johnmark Aule, Gidado Toheeb, and Hannafi Babatunde consistently troubled the opposition defence.
Their early dominance paid off in the 7th minute when Johnmark Aule clinically finished a well-delivered pass from Junior Aimufua to give the home side a deserved lead.
Kwara United continued to push for more goals, creating several chances, but were unable to convert their opportunities to extend the advantage before the break.
In the second half, the visitors grew in confidence, particularly through set pieces, as the hosts allowed them brief moments of penetration into dangerous areas.
Coach Ashifat Suleiman made tactical substitutions in a bid to restore the intensity of the first-half performance. However, the visitors capitalised on a defensive lapse in the 80th minute, with Luiz Dadong finding the equaliser.
There was late drama in the 86th minute when Toheeb Gidado was brought down inside the penalty area. The home side appealed for a spot kick, but the centre referee instead, awarded a free kick at the edge of the box.
Kwara United remain 18th on the league table with 28 points after 25 matches and will now shift focus to their outstanding fixture against Rivers United scheduled for Wednesday.
