The 2025/2026 Edu Super League will reach its climax on Sunday, November 1, 2026, with Ndamaraki FC taking on Tsaragi Ward 1 FC in the final at the Government Secondary School (GSS), Lafiagi, Kwara State.
Organised by the Edu Football Council and sponsored by Hon. Mohammed Baba Ibrahim (MBI), Wokili Sadauki of Lafiagi, and Engr. Mohammad N. Idris (Ajiya Sarkin Lafiagi), the competition has continued to redefine grassroots football, youth engagement and community development across Edu Local Government Area.
The final represents the culmination of an exciting campaign that featured 16 teams competing in a home-and-away format across Lafiagi, Tsaragi, Shonga and other communities in Edu.
Beyond the battle for the coveted trophy, the competition has provided a valuable platform for young footballers, many of whom had never previously participated in an organised league, to showcase their talents, gain competitive experience and develop essential values such as discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The Edu Super League has also emerged as an important instrument for youth empowerment, offering young people a productive alternative to idleness and social vices while promoting unity and healthy competition among communities.
Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, Chairman of the Edu Football Council, Mallam Malik Manzuma, the Dan Búram of Lafiagi, has consistently emphasised the need to establish a sustainable football culture that produces not only talented footballers but also responsible and productive citizens.
The contributions of the sponsors, Hon. Mohammed Baba Ibrahim and Engr. Mohammad N. Idris, have been instrumental to the successful organisation of the competition, particularly in providing match balls, playing kits, logistics and incentives for participating teams and players.
Their commitment to grassroots sports development reflects the importance of private and community-driven support in creating opportunities for young talents to develop and potentially progress to higher levels of the game.
Meanwhile, the league has generated benefits beyond the football pitch, with matchdays attracting traders, transporters and other small-scale businesses, while bringing communities together through their shared passion for the round leather game.
With 16 teams embarking on the journey, the emergence of Ndamaraki FC and Tsaragi Ward 1 FC as finalists sets the stage for an exciting conclusion to a competition that has captured the imagination of football followers across Edu.

The Edu Super League is increasingly positioning itself as a potential talent-discovery platform for Kwara North and beyond, demonstrating how organised grassroots competitions can contribute to football development, youth inclusion and community growth.
As the two finalists prepare for Sunday’s showdown at GSS Lafiagi, the expectation is not just for a memorable football spectacle but also for a fitting celebration of the vision, commitment and collective efforts behind the competition.
For Edu, the final is more than a contest for the trophy; it is a celebration of grassroots football, youth empowerment and the promise of a brighter sporting future.
