Female Cricket League: Uwana, Esther, Peculiar, and Faith lead performance board

The second day of cricket activity in the ongoing South-South Female Cricket League (SSFCL) saw some outstanding performances from Port Harcourt and Benin Zones. 

Uwana Moses, Pathfinders Cricket Club (CC), leads the batters with 106 runs in 2 matches. She is followed by Nigerian international and Smashers CC opening batter, Esther Sandy, who has 72 runs.

Peculiar Agboya of Idia Royals CC leads the 2024 SSFCL bowlers with 6 wickets from two matches, followed by Faith Okpara with five wickets from two games.

Sarah Etim, the national female team wicketkeeper, leads the fielders’ category with five dismissals after two games. 

Meanwhile, Idia and Amazon lead the Zone A table with four points apiece after winning two games. The other two teams in Benin, Ekpoma Supernova, and Delta Force have yet to record any points.

At Port Harcourt zone, title defenders, Smashers lead the table after winning Port Harcourt-based Pathfinders by 37 runs. Smashers batted first and scored 158/5 while Pathfinder’s chase ended at 123/9. Smashers CC Big Girl and Commonwealth top Associate batter, Salome Sunday is yet to join the fray due to crucial academic commitments. 

Rangers CC, the second Uyo-based team remains in third position with 2 points while Bayelsa-based club Dazagon is waiting for the first point.

The top four teams in the ICC-recognized female league will play for glory after the conclusion of the zonal contest.
