Kwara state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the site for the construction of a World Class Table Tennis Hall in Ilorin.
Governor AbdulRazaq gave the immediate approval when the paid an unscheduled visit to the ongoing Squash Court at the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
The site for the construction of the World Class Table Tennis Hall is located behind the squash courts currently under construction.
Governor AbdulRazaq also approved the rehabilitation of the mini basketball court located behind the outdoor handball court.
Reacting to the approval, the Director of Sports, Alarape Atanda said National Champions, African champions, Olympians and Paralympics champions have risen from Kwara state.
Atanda said the approval of the world class table tennis hall will bring investors into the state.
He said, “The history of Table Tennis in Nigeria is incomplete without mentioning Kwara state.
Table Tennis legends like Atanda Musa, Sule Olaleye and Kasali Lasisi all rose from Kwara state and have written the name of the state in ‘gold.
“The World Class Table Tennis Hall will attract private investors who are interested in Table Tennis; this will also compliment the efforts of the current Chairman of the Table Tennis Association, Shola Owolabi who is investing heavily in Table Tennis”.
