Ilorin Golf Club gears up for Kwara Open

Ilorin Golf Club is set to host this year’s edition of the Kwara Open Golf Championship.

The event, which draws golfers from golf clubs across the country will run from 2nd to 4th of August 2024.

Briefing pressman, the Club’s Captain, Mr. Jide Allen said while they await the over 180 competitors who have registered for the event, arrangements are in top gears to ensure a hitch-free competition that will get golfers competing over 36 holes.

Competitors will arrive on Friday, 2nd of August 2024 to a welcome cocktail at the Ultra-Modern Mohammed Lawal Club House, ahead of the competition which tees-off officially on Saturday 3rd of August 2024 by 9am.

Expected to perform the ceremonial tee-off is the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who doubles as the club’s Patron.

The best 100 players from the first day round will qualify to play on Sunday 4th of August 2024, while the closing ceremony and presentation of prizes will follow by 7pm.

In his remark, the marketer of the event Barrister Luqman Owolewa said Sluqfort Nigeria Limited, the marketing outfit for the event was able to attract lots of sponsors to identify with the event, amongst them are the Kwara State Government, Emirate Global Hotels, Femtech IT, Momrota Pharmacy and Rotamedics Pharmacy, among others.

He further said that there are gross and net prizes for both male and female categories as well as Veterans and Super Veterans.

Expected to take part in the competition are, Chairman BoT of the club, Justice Lambo Akanbi (Rtd) and other members of the Board, Engr. Lanre Sagaya, Otunba Olusola Adekanola and Pharm. Layi Maliki.

Home players to watch out for are Malik Mustapha, Habeeb Azeez and two time winner of the event, Jide Allen, while visiting golfers in the likes of Owolabi from Abeokuta Golf Club and Olumide Afolabi of Ikoyi Golf Club won’t be push asides.
