The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 8th Kwara State Sports Festival, Dr. Steve Olarinoye, has declared the readiness of the Committee to stage a hitch-free and successful multi-sport event.
Dr Olarinoye gave the assurance when members of the LOC inspected facilities earmarked to host the various sporting events at the George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
He commended the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for ensuring that facilities at the Stadium Complex are upgraded to meet global standards.
According to him, the availability of modern sporting facilities and an enabling environment has made the Committee’s task easier, assuring athletes, officials and other stakeholders of a well-organised festival.
Also speaking, a member of the LOC, Mallam Hammed Adio, expressed satisfaction with the facilities at the George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex, describing them as world-class and strategically concentrated in one location.
He commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his investment and initiatives towards the comprehensive upgrade of the state’s Stadium Complex, adding that athletes participating in the festival would compete in facilities comparable to those obtainable at major international competitions, including the Olympics.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Technical Committee, Coach Tunde Kazeem, said his Committee was perfecting arrangements to ensure a technically sound festival.
He urged participating Local Government Areas to adhere strictly to the rules and regulations of the competition, stressing that compliance would guarantee a smooth and hitch-free exercise.
