Kwara United eyes winning start as Kandil rates NPFL as a tough league

Kwara United Head Coach, Tunde Sanni has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for their NPFL Matchday 1 clash against Ikorodu City scheduled for Sunday in Ilorin.

Speaking at the Pre-match Press Conference at the Taiwo Awoniyi Media Centre, Ilorin, Coach Sanni emphasized that building on their strong form from the ValueJet Preseason Tournament remains a priority.

“Ikorodu City is not a pushover. They are one of the strongest teams in the league. However, we are determined to secure maximum points here in Ilorin on Sunday,” Coach Sanni said.

He also called for the unwavering support of fans, emphasizing that the players are disciplined and committed to adhering to the ethical standards set by the league body.

Also speaking, the Club Captain, Afeez Musa Olororo affirmed that the Harmony Boys are both physically and mentally ready for the challenge, urging supporters to rally behind the team for the season opener.

“We are fully prepared, and we are looking forward to giving our best. I urge all our fans to stand with us as we kick off the season.”

Meanwhe, Ikorodu City Head Coach, Ali Kandil has described the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as a tough competition filled with technically gifted players.

Speaking during the Pre-match Press Conference at the Taiwo Awoniyi Media Centre ahead of their fixture against Kwara United in Ilorin, Coach Kandil acknowledged the strength of the league and emphasized the resilience of his team.

He noted that Ikorodu City remain a relatively young side but are determined to finish strong in the current NPFL campaign.

Kwara United will play host to the ‘Oga Boys’ tomorrow Sunday, at the Rashidi Yekini Main-Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium, Ilorin, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

“NPFL is a tough league with fantastic technical players. We have a very young squad, and realistically, we just want to have a good form and finish strong this season, ” he said.
