The Kwara State Football Association (Kwara FA) has continued the distribution of footballs to selected secondary schools across the state under the CAF School Football Development Initiative, with Lafiagi Secondary School in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara North Senatorial District emerging as the latest beneficiary.

The initiative, which is aimed at promoting grassroots football development and nurturing young talents at the school level, saw officials of the FA present match balls to the school in a brief but impactful ceremony.

Speaking during the presentation, the Principal of Lafiagi Secondary School, Mallam Nasir Shaaba, expressed deep appreciation to the Kwara FA for extending the gesture to the institution.

He described the donation as timely and highly beneficial, noting that it would significantly boost sporting activities among students.

Mallam Shaaba commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for conceptualizing and supporting the initiative, adding that such efforts would go a long way in discovering and developing future football stars from the grassroots.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kwara State FA, Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya, reiterated the Association’s commitment to ensuring that schools across the state benefit from the CAF-backed programme.

He emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader strategy to revive school sports and strengthen the foundation of football development in Kwara State.

Thuraya, who was represented by Chairman, Edu Local Football Council, Mallam Maliki Manzuma, the Dam Buram of Lafiagi, also lauded the NFF and CAF for their continuous support towards grassroots football, assuring that the Kwara FA would remain steadfast in implementing programmes that positively impact young players and the development of the game at the grassroots level.

The distribution exercise is expected to continue across other schools in the state, as the Kwara FA intensifies efforts to deepen football development through structured school-based initiatives.
