The Kwara State Football Association (FA) has reaffirmed the importance of strict adherence to laid down rules and procedures in football administration, following a crucial meeting involving the FA, its Special Committee, and members of the Kwara Referees Council.

The statement was contained in a release signed by the FA Secretary, Kashim Agaka.

At the meeting, stakeholders emphasized discipline, transparency, and due process as essential pillars for the growth and credibility of the game in the state.

The referees, in response, made a renewed commitment to uphold the rules and conduct their duties in line with established guidelines.

A key outcome of the deliberations was the clearance of Referee Mahmood Surakat Taiye, who had earlier been suspended. His reinstatement followed the submission of a formal letter of apology, which the FA and its Special Committee found satisfactory.

The FA had initially sanctioned Taiye over repeated breaches involving the unauthorized appointment of referees to officiate matches without proper approval, an action considered a violation of established procedures.

In a related development, Ahmed Alabi Árábàmbi was also granted reprieve by the Special Committee after tendering a letter of apology. However, his case remains subject to final ratification, as he will have to await official endorsement of the Committee’s report by the FA Board before his status is fully regularized.

The Association reiterated that there are clearly defined procedures guiding the handling of football matters and warned that any deviations would not be tolerated going forward.
