The current leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter is celebrating two successful years in office, marking a milestone of dedication, progress, and commitment to the growth of sports journalism in the state.
Under the leadership of the current executives, the chapter has made significant strides in its mission to uplift the standard of sports reporting and ensure that the sports community is well-represented in the media.
One of the major accomplishments of the executives is the completion of the long-awaited Secretariat, a project that has been on the cards for years.
The Chairman Kwara SWAN, Mallam Ayodeji Ismail expressed his satisfaction with the achievements of the current leadership.
“When we assumed office two years ago, we made a promise to our members that we would prioritize the completion of the Secretariat, a crucial space for our activities. Today, we are proud to see that promise fulfilled,” Ismail stated during the celebration.
He said the completion of the Secretariat was made possible thanks to the generous support of Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi.
The Chairman said Awoniyi has further demonstrated his commitment to the development of sports in his home state by funding the final stages of the project.
He added that his contribution has been widely praised, and it underscores the collaborative efforts needed to push the boundaries of sports journalism and sports development.
“It is a great honour for us to have such a distinguished son of the state in Taiwo Awoniyi, who has shown unwavering support to the sports community. His involvement in the completion of our Secretariat will forever be remembered as a defining moment in our journey,” Ayodeji added.
He commended the President of Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih for his vow to furnish the office of the Chairman.
Ayodeji said, “I want to thank the President of Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih for his pledge to furnish the office of the chairman. Let it be in record that the chairs in our conference room was procured with the funds given to SWAN by Coach Aliyu Zubairu.
He hailed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for creating an atmosphere for sports to thrive in Kwara State.
Looking ahead, Ayodeji pledged to continue enhancing the quality of sports journalism in Kwara, ensuring that the local sports scene receives the attention it deserves both within the state and across the nation.
As the SWAN Kwara Chapter enters its third year, Ayodeji expressed his commitment to partner with stakeholders and administrators in boosting sports development in the state.
