Kwara United Football Club this evening defeated Lagos state Selected side, named Ajegunle United 1-0 in the final of the Maracana Football Tournament organised by the Local Government Area Chairman of Ajeromi Ifelodun, Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola.
Kwara United started the competition by with a one-all draw against Eagles wings, beat Nath Boys 4-0, before dispatching Ajegunle united 1-0 in the final this evening.
The competition was supported by Senior Special Adviser on Sports, Adeboye Adeyinka, and was aimed at mobilising youths to come together as one, to make sure the APC candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu wins the Presidential election come 2023.
Thee competition was targetted at mobilizing, empowering and encouraging the youths and supporting football development.
Six teams participated in the competition, and they include Remo Stars, Ajegunle United, Smart City FC, Kwara United FC, Eagle Wings FC and Nath Boys FC.
Ajegunle United had ealier beaten Smart City by two unreplied goals to secure a final berth against the Harmony Boys.
The General Manager of the club, Bashir Badawiy expressed happiness with the outcome of the competition, adding that its a sign that the boys are responding to the preparing ahead of the commencement of the 2022/2023 NPFL season.
He added that the team will continue to prepare well, to build on the successes attained last season.
