The final of the 16th edition of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) organised Commissioner of Police Cup competition will hold tomorrow, Friday August 29, 2025, at the Kwara Football Academy pitch, beginning from 2.30pm.
Three finals are on the card, the U13 and U17 male competitions, and the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) U17 Girls Cup competition.
In the U17 Boys final, Future Stars will take on Barca Kiddies from 12noon, Kwara Ladies United will square up against Model Queens in the final of the POWA Cup final from 2.00pm, while the U13 Boys final will be between Future Stars and Unique FA, from 3.00pm, all at the same venue.
The success of the competition, now in its 16th edition, and the 2nd edition of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) Cup are more than just a sporting event, but a celebration of two powerful institutions driving grassroots sports development and female participation in athletics across Nigeria.
Kwara is playing a crucial role in using sports as a platform for empowering young girls. By sponsoring and promoting the POWA Cup, the association is providing opportunities for teenage girls to showcase their talents, build self-confidence and aspired to greater heights in the world of sports.
The Kwara State Chapter of Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), is under the leadership of dynamic and visionary Mrs. Catherine Aseri Adekimi.
Kwara YSFON has consistently been the engine room of grassroots sports development in Nigeria. Through its partnership with the Commissioner of Police and POWA, the body identifies and nurtures talents from the grassroots and often transforming raw passion into professional potential.
Kwara Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will attend as the Special Guest of Honour. Others expected to grace the ocassion are His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin, CP Adekimi Ọjọ́, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji, Kwara FA Chairman, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya, and the POWA State Charperson, Mrs Catherine Áṣérì Adekimi.
The State YSFON Chairman, Mallam Ademola Kiyesola said that everything has been put in place to ensure a hitch-free finals.
