The Chairman of Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa has said that many factors were considered in nominating the Chairperson of the association’s Female Football Development Committee, Haji Rukaya Segilola Lola Alaya as member of the Nigeria Women Football League.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday appointed Board members for the Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Nation-Wide League One, and the Nigeria Women Football League, with Hajia Alaya named among the seven members to run the Nigeria Women Football League.
The newly constituted Nigeria Women Football League will be led by Mrs Nkechi Nneka Obi as Chairman. Others are Hajiya Hussaina Suleman (Vice Chairman); Alhaja Rukayat Segilola Lola Alaya (Member); FIFA Hadiza Musa (Member); Mr. Ayodele Thomas (Member); Ms Henrietta Ehiobor (Member) and Mr. Danny Nazzal (Member). Nkechi Nneka Obi is a renowned Marketing Expert.
Mallam Idris, popularly known as Thuraya said that the Founder of Abruka Female Football Club and Chairperson, Female Football Interest Group (FFIG) has distinguished herself in the area of the development and empowerment of the girl-child over the years.
He added that her sacrifice made the FA to appoint her as the Chairperson of the association’s Female Football Development Committee, adding that she has not disappointed the FA since her consideration for the position.
According to Thuraya, “the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) asked for the nomination of personalities that have the experience to add value to the system, and going by her contributions to female football, we have to nominate her”
“We have also nominated some Kwarans for various positions which will be made known when the time comes, and we considered many factors which included Senatorial representation, experience the wherewithal to serve, in nominating names.
Thuraya therefore, commended the Executive Committee of the NFF being led by Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, for the opportunity, as he charged Hajia Alaya to work hard to justify the confidence reposed on her.
