Maiden Esther Titiloye memorial U-14 Boys tournament gets date

The final of the first edition of Esther Titiloye memorial Boys soccer competition has been scheduled to come up on 9th April 2023 in Oro, as the sponsor, Kumbi Titiloye pledged to use to competition to establish youth football development project⁸ in the area.

While briefing the press during the trophy presentation at his country home in Oro on Saturday December 31, 2022, Titiloye said that efforts are on to set up a Football Academy in Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of the State.

Titoloye said that the initiative, which would also include the construction of a Mini Stadium in the area is being nursed by consortium of friends, all aimed at establishing and boosting direct foreign investment in the area.

“We are going to use all that to develop the young talents. Football is not just a sport, its one of the biggest businesses in the world. We want to give the young ones the opportunity, starting from our own Local Government and geo-political zone.

On Esther Titiloye memorial competition, Titiloye, who is the Chairman of Kwara United Football Club said that he wants to make it an annual event and a solidarity tool, adding that he learnt solidarity from his late mother.

He said that the winner of the competition will get N200,000 alonside other prizes. The first and second runner-ups will get N150,000 and N100,000 respectively, alongside other goodies, as individual prizes will also be made available for players that distinguish themselves during the competition.

The competition will be organised by the Kwara State chapter of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigera (YSFON).

While presenting the trophy to the sponsor, the State Chairman of YSFON, Mallam Ademola Kiyesola said that the competition is historic, as very few people remember and honour their departed parents.

He commented Titiloye for deeming it fit to honour his late mother, and also using the opportunity to boost the youth and sports development platforms in the state.

He pledged that YSFON will stage a befitting competition.

Also in his address, the National Welfare Officer of YSFON, Mallam Ahmed Abdullahi, who described the competition as a project, commended Titiloye for his believe in the philosophy of “Catch them young “.

The President of Smart City Football Club of Lagos, Mr. Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, popularly known as “Authority” described the competition as a family affair, which will be supported by everybody in Oro and its environs, including the Elders and traditional rulers.

Other present at the ocassion are Yusuf Toyin Hafsat, Representative of Kwara Grassroots coaches, AbdulSalam Kamaldeen, Madam Abigael Modupeola, who is Irepodun Grassroots Coordinator, Mallam Wahab Ayinde, who is the YSFON Secretary, Kwara United’s Protocol Officer, Ola Aluko and others.
