Smart City will take NNL by storm – Authority

The President of Smart City Football Academy of Lagos, Mr Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka has said that the newly promoted Nigeria Nitional League (NNL) side will make a huge difference and impact in the second-tier system, as he pledged to make every opportunity count.

While briefing newsmen in Oro on Saturday December 31, 2022, Mr Adeboye, popularity known as Authority said that the bid to make the club an household name will be pursued with utmost seriousness.

“Smart City recently gained promotion to play in the NNL, and I want to aasure you that with the support of government stakeholders, Smart City will become an household name.

Smart City Football Club started as an Academy four years ago, from where they graduated to playing in the Nationwide League, and after just a season in the cadre, they got promoted to the NNL.

Its the very first Academy in history in Nigeria to reach the quarter-final stage of the National Aiteo Cup competition, and Authority said that the team will continue to provide the necessary support to the young talented youth to fulfil their dreams.

“We started as an Academy four years ago, and with the support of the Governor, Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, the stakeholders and friends, we have continued to wax stronger in the system and want to ensure it becomes an household name in the country.

“With the support of Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, some individuals and friend from abroad, and the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we are gradually fulfiling the purpose for which the Academy was established. Our logo is BAT, which means Bola Ahmed Tinubu Boys.

Authority added that he will continue to use the platform to help the less privileged through football.

Adeboye, who is the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State is an indigene of Oro, in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara state, and is currently assisting in the establishment of Football Academy in the Local Government.
