Milo Secondary Schools basketball gets date, as Kwara hosts Central Conference

This year’s edition of the Nestle Milo Secondary School basketball Championship has been scheduled to commence with states preliminaries between Tuesday March 1st to Saturday March 5th, 2022.

Registration of schools in all the states of the federation and Abuja is currently on, and will close on Tuesday February 22, 2022.

Finalists in all the 36 states and Abuja, in both the male and female categories of the competition are expected to emerge between Tuesday March 8th and Saturday March 12th, ahead of the Zonal hostilities.

Ilorin, Kwara state has been picked as host of the Central Conference.

The Central Conference will hold at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, between Saturday 14th to Friday 20th, May, 2022.

Kwara will slug it out with seven other states and Abuja at the Central Conference. The other states are Niger, Nasarawa, Plateau, Benue, Kebbi Kaduna and Sokoto states.

Kano and Enugu will host states for the Savannah and Equatorial Conferences respectively, while Western Conference comes up in Ibadan.

States in the Savannah Conference are host kano, Jigawa, Zamfara, Gombe, Bauchi, Borno, Yobe, Taraba, Adamawa and Katsina states. They will play at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Sanni Abacha Stadium, Kano between Saturday 7th to Friday 13th, May 2022.

Hostilities in Equatorial Conference is expected to hold between Saturday 21st and Friday 27th, 2022, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, among host Enugu state, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo and Anambra states.

The Western Conference in Ibadan will commence from Saturday 28th May, and end on Friday 3rd June, 2022. Host Oyo will trade tackles with Edo, Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Delta and Kogi states.

The National Finals has been scheduled to hold between Saturday 25th June to Friday 1st July, 2022.

Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship, now in its 22nd edition, is the biggest grassroots basketball competition where many of the talented students have been harnessed and integrated into the mainstream of basketball at national and international levels.
