NUJ, SWAN honour Attahiru Ibrahim as Inter-Chapel table tennis tournament serves off Wednesday

The Inter-Chapel Table Tennis tournament in honour of the Special Adviser on Sports Matters to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Attahiru Ibrahim is expected to serve-off Wednesday August 17th, 2022, at the NUJ Press Centre, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin.
The competition will serve off by 10.00am, with all the 18 contestants from the affiliated Chapels expected to be present.
Tagged “Kwara NUJ/Attahiru Ibrahim Table Tennis Tournament”, the competition is also being powered by Mallam Attahiru, who is the Talban Samari of Patigi.
The tournament is being staged to strengthen the unity and togetherness among the Chapels, and also to promote the spirit of sports development among the journalists.
Eight players were registered for the Female Singles and 10 for the Male Singles event. The female contestants are Bimbo Sulaiman (National Orientation Agency), Nusirat Popoola-Yekeen (Kwara TV), Funmilayo Familoni (NTA Ilorin), Bamidele Yetunda (State Information), Mrs. Bukola Aiyedogbon of the News Agency of Nigeria (Correspondents’ Chapel), Itunu Olaosebikan (Radio Kwara), Janet Bogunjoko (The Herald) and Mrs Alao Adedoyin (Federal Information).
In the male category, the current champion of all NUJ organized table tennis schedules, Jide Allen of Radio Kwara tops the list that also includes Baba Ibrahim (National Orientation Agency), Babatunde Jimba (Kwara TV), Kale Yakub (NTA Ilorin), Ganiyu Adebisi Yusuf (State Information), Demola Akinyemi of Vanguard Newspaper (Correspondents’ Chapel), Ahmed Ajiboye (The Herald), Kehinde Adeseko (Federal Information), Ahmed Ibrahim (National Pilot) and Sodiq Adebara (Harmony FM).
The finals will hold on Thursday August 18th, 2022, from 4.00pm, with the celebrant expected to grace the occasion, in company of friends, sports family in the state and well-wishers.
Among the dignitaries invited for the final are the Hon Commissioner,
Ministry of Communications, Hon. Olabode Towoju, the Executive Chairman, Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Mogaji, Kwara United Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, the Kwara State Pillar of Sports, Sir (Prince) Oladimeji Thompson,  Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, The Nwachigoziri 1, the General Manager, Kwara United FC, Bashir Badawiy, General Managers and Heads of Media Houses in the state, the Chairman,
Kwara State Table Tennis Association and Mallam Tunde Kazeem of KazoLinks Consult,
Ilorin.
Others are the Kwara FA Chairman,
Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa, Board Chairman, Kwara TV, Mallam Hameed Adio, Engr Laide Ahmed of
Cytek Engineering Limited, Alhaji Owolabi Wopa Agbaji and  Engr. Idris Jibril.
The Organizing Committee of the tournament therefore, charged Chapel leaders to produce their contestants on time for the contests, and to also mobilize support for them, as mouth watering prizes await winners in both categories.
Kwara State Council of NUJ and the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) will use the occasion to honour the Special Adviser.
