The maiden edition of Olakunle Olusegun Kwara Kids Cup will kick off at Ilorin, the Kwara State capital on Monday 20th November, 2023.
The tournament, which is geared towards the discovery, development and nurturing of young talents at the grassroots is been sponsored by Mr. Olakunle Olusegun Jnr., the former Arsenal Kiddies Football Academy prodigy and FC Kransnodar of Russia prolific Striker.
Tagged ‘ giving back to society, 32 grassroots’ Kiddies teams have indicated interest to participate in the competition and the best players of the tournament going home with juicy awards.
The organizer of tournament, Coach Soni Omo Ahamioje, in a chat with sports writers said, ‘it is a unique avenue to hunt and nurture young talents from the age of 8 to 12 years.
It is the first of its kind as the registration for the tournament is free. The play-off for the tournament begins on Monday 20th November and the final on Sunday 24th December, 2023.
According to him, ‘it is going to be total football coupled with entertainment, skills, color and glamor’. At the end of the competition, the best players will be sponsored to partake in the screening exercises of some top notched Academies across the country.
He also promised to organize a hitch free tournament that will be worthy of emulation.
While thanking the sponsor of the competition, Coach Ahamioje called on the well to do in the society to emulate the philanthropic spirit of Mr. Olakunle Olusegun Jnr and assist our children and youths in both sporting and academic programs.
