The Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Kayode Alabi says the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium is the best in Nigeria.
Alabi stated this during his tour of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in company of Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shuaibu today.
Alabi said Edo state is capable of hosting various international competition, including the African Games and Olympics.
He lauded Governor Godwin Obaseki for empowering the people of Edo state through sports.
Alabi said, “I want to state it categorically that Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium is the best stadium in Nigeria. I have gone round the stadium from the tennis court to the badminton court to the squash court to the gymnastics hall and swimming pool. All I can say is that Edo state government invested hugely in the sporting sector.
“With the facilities on ground, Edo state can host the African Football Cup of Nations (AFCON), African Games and the Olympics. Governor Godwin Obaseki is doing well in the area of engaging the youth through sports and I know in the nearest future, Edo state will become a force to reckon with in the sports industry”.
He said Kwara state will study the model of the refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and ensure Kwara state host National tournaments.
