Meanwhile, the former Sports Minister Sunday Dare has been hailed for the role he played in the Nigeria Basketball family that has led to the current success story of the Nigerian girls.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Ismailia Abubakar, if the former Minister had not laid a good foundation it would have been difficult for the girl to achieve what they did in Kigali.
“Sunday Dare laid the solid foundation for this wonderful achievement with the way he sanitised the Nigeria Basketball Federation and look at today the result is positive” he stated.
The President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, Musa Kida has also praised the immediate past Sports Minister after the team’s triumph in Rwanda.
Kida said the former Minister is a huge part of the success story of the girls and the entire Nigeria Basketball family is forever indebted to him.
This year’s victory by D’Tigress is record breaking as the Nigerian Ladies have become only the second team ever, after Senegal to win four consecutive titles.
Since 2017, the Nigerian girls have monopolised the Women’s basketball on the African continent, ending the dominance of countries like Angola and Senegal.
