Super Talent Football Scouting tourney begins in Ilorin


Super Talent Football Scouting tournament commences today at the Kwara Football Academy pitch in Ilorin, with players from 12 youth clubs, drawn from four states expected to display their soccer talents in the five days competition.

The tournament, organized by Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf, Chairman of Abraysports FC is expected to end on Friday, with the final billed to hold at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex.

The competition, introduced for the youngsters from the grassroots to expose themselves to foreign football have teams from Kwara, Lagos, Edo and Osun states participating.

The teams include; Dynamic FC, Abraysports FC, Olusosun United, JK Soccer Academy, Kwara Football Academy, LA Planet Sport Academia, House of Prayers Sports Academy, Olansile Football Academy, Alan FC, Laycon Academy, Metrice FC, and Amapro Selected.

According the Scouts, Busayo Akinyemi (England) and Tomas Bahnik (Czech Republic), the player or players chosen from the tournament will be taken to clubs in Europe for trials and eventually sign a professional contract, if they impresses the club.

Speaking during a press conference ahead of the competition, Tomas Bahlink, who has links all over Europe said that the goal was to find good players and develop them into European programme.

Akinyemi, who observed that talents abound in Nigeria, pointed out that they needed a platform to discover and groom them to stardom.

He added that the mission was to help Academies and Nigerian football. He said that the age targets is between 18 and 20.

Akinyemi added that plans are underway to organise Football Coaching Clinics, especially as a way of preparing the coaches to train their players and teams in line with general requirements in scouting programmes.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of AbraySports, Mr Abdullahi Yusufsaid that the tournament is being organized by First Class Sports Marketing in conjunction with Abraysports International. 

He said that in recent times, the development of the sport from the grassroots has been ignored and it has derailed the progress and development of the game in the country.

“That is the essence of organizing the tournament in my state. I want to provide a platform for grassroots players in the country to find a club in Europe. This is because in return, this will help promote the state around the world.

He urged all the participating teams to play by the rule of the game.
