Kwara state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has praised the state government for sustaining its sports facility renovation and construction culture in the state.

The commendation was contained in a five-point communique drawn at the end of its State Congress, held at the State Stadium Complex, Ilorin, on Wednesday February 28, 2024, and signed by the trio of Jimoh Bashir, Nicolas Uwerunonye and Olayinka Alaya.

It would be recalled that the state government last week approved the renovation and modernization of the dilapidated Indoor Sports Hall.

“SWAN Congress commended the state government on its numerous sports development interventions, which includes, but not limited to the renovation of facilities, especially the recent approval for the renovation and upgrade of the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin”, the communique read in part.

The body also called for amicable resolution of the crisis of the national body in line with the provisions of its Statutes, even as the Executives were charged to work hard to make the body stronger, and effective in the state.

The sports wiring body harped on the consideration of entry requirements in admitting new members, in line with the provisions in the Statutes, as it also charged members yet to complete their registration for the current year to do so as at when due.

Part of the resolution was the resolve to sustain the drive towards updating knowledge of members in sports reportage and presentation through seminars and workshops, as it seeks collaboration and partnership in achieving the goal.

SWAN also hinted on plans to stage 2024 SWAN Media Games, as a way of encouraging members to participate in sports, asides just reporting it.
