Team Radio Kwara has emerged Champions of the 5th Kwara SWAN Media Games which came to a Climax on Saturday, at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex Ilorin, ending with five gold, five silver and three bronze medals.
Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) came second with five gold, three silver and two bronze medals, while University of Ilorin FM came third with three gold and two silver medals. The Herald came fourth with two gold, three silver and two bronze medals.
Reacting to the development, the General Manager of Radio Kwara, Alhaji Tajudeen Kayode Aremu expressed satisfaction with the performance of Team Radio Kwara, and promised to improve programmes aimed at promoting sports at the Station.
Alhaji Kayode Aremu, who was elated with the feat promised regular training exercise for his athletes to ensure they retain the status in the next edition.
He applauded Team Radio for their doggedness and the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited throughout the competition.
The Herald walloped Harmony FM 3-1 in the final of the most glamorous of the events, football, to win gold and trophy.
The Herald football team came into the football event as underdogs, surprised all the followers of the biennial competition with the victory, and promised to defend the title in the next edition.
Stakeholders within and outside the state witnessed the closing ceremony. They include the National U-20 team Coach, Ladan Bosso, Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji, Secretary of the Club Owners, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, the General Managers of The Herald Newspaper, Mr Yomi Ajiboye, that of Radio Kwara, Alhaji Kayode Aremu, representatives of NTA General Manager, the General Manager, Harmony FM, among others.
