Football coaches nationwide has been charged to sacrifice towards improving and adding value to themselves, in order to give credence to the development of the round leather game.
Coach Issa Ladan Bosso, who is the President of Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), gave the charge yesterday, while lecturing Kwara coaches on the principles of coaching, at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
Coach Bosso, who said that coaches are the pivot upon which the games’ growth rotates also urged them to support the association, and always defend the interest of their players.
The lecture was part of the talent discovery package facilitated by the Kwara State Football Association, for Kwara coaches and teams, ahead of the selection process for the U-20 National team.
According to Bosso, “in changing the narratives, more attention must be paid to grassroots. I must commend the Kwara State Football Association, being led by Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa, and the Kwara coaches, under the chairmanship of Coach Tunde Sanni for this opportunity”
The Flying Eagles coach said that in a bid to encourage coaches, the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA) welcomes even those that have intention, but are not certificated, as the association plans to empower them to continually improve themselves on the job.
“Continuous development of coaches must be encouraged. They need to sacrifice, leave their comfort zones and get themselves developed. Capacity training is what you have to force yourself to do, in order to create better future for yourself and the game”
Earlier in his opening address, the Chairman of Kwara State Football Association, Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa commended Coach Bosso, even as he charged Kwara coaches to take full advantage of the opportunity.
He commented the coaches for introducing a grassroots football development programme, the Youth League, pledging to introduce more seminars to support the coaches.
While charging the active coaches from the state to support the Youth League, he urged the Kwara Coaches Association to encourage female folks to come into the coaching profession.
The Chairman, Kwara Football Coaches Association, Coach Tunde Sanni thanked the FA for giving Kwara coaches and players the opportunity to benefit from the seminar and selection process for the U-20 National team.
He called on members to rally round the association, so as to benefit from more advantages that will be introduced later.
Over 70 coaches, who included retired, serving and veteran coaches participated in the seminar, and were all given certificates, for doing so.
The seminar was also attended by the immediate past Chairman of Kwara FA, Mallam Busari Ishola, Mallam Saliu Ojibara, the Executive Secretary, NPFL Club Owners Association, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, Vice Chairman, Kwara FA, Bashorun Kayode Bankole and other stakeholders.
