The management of University of Ilorin Football Club, popularly known as Unilorin Warriors is set to hold her annual send forth ceremony to honour and celebrate all her graduating players who had completed their various courses of study for their dedication and selfless service towards the growth and success of the Better By Far University Football Club.
The event, which has become part of tradition of the school, to celebrate the players upon completion of their courses of study could not hold in year 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic which halted all football and school activities.
The graduating players, numbering 20, and two Assistant Coaches which cuts across all faculties of the University will receive a colourful farewell at the ceremony.
The University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulkareem Sulaiman Age is expected to grace the occasion as well as the University Director of Sports, Prof Leah Olufunmilola Dominic, among other top dignitaries expected at the occasion.
Programmes of the event includes Special Recognition and Award presentation to all outstanding players and individuals, as well as certificate presentation to all graduating players.
On the graduating list include some players who won the University First Major trophy back in 2019 in 3rd edition of JAMB All Tertiary Institutions Football competition, when the University of Ilorin defeated Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria courtesy of Akinyemi Oluwatobi (Pope) lone goal in the finals played at Unilorin Main-Bowl of the Stadium.
Also among the graduating players are players who won bronze medal, finishing in third place match in 2019 Higher Institutions Football League competition.
Unilorin Warriors also participated in this year’s HIFL competition, progressing pass the Round of 16, losing 5-4 on penalties in the quarter-final stages to FUT, Minna.
The send forth ceremony comes up on Friday, 22nd of October 2021, at the Main-Bowl of the University of Ilorin Stadium, starting by 10:00am
