The President of Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Coach Issa Ladan Bosso has termed Nigeria’s 0-1 loss to Central Africa Republic in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers as a blessing in disguise.
Bosso, who is the coach of the U-20 National team, the Flying Eagles added that the shocking loss, in the match decided at the Teslim Balogun Stadium last Thursday was also a wake-up call for the team, ahead of the remaining fixtures in the race.
The Wild Beasts of Central African Republic produced a strong performance to beat Super Eagles 0-1 in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying Group C fixture on Thursday.
Karl Namngandaa netted the decisive goal in the last minute of the game. Namnganda netted the winning goal on the dot of 90 minutes.
The visitors earlier had the ball at the back of the net a minute after the hour mark but the goal was chalked off for a foul on Jamilu Collins.
Speaking to journalists in Ilorin on the sideline of a Talent Discovery and Seminar for Kwara coaches, the former Niger Tornadoes handler however, expressed optimism that the team will redeem its image right from the return leg holding today in Cameroon.
“I watched the encounter live, and also offered suggestions in the course of the match. The lost is a blessing in disguise, and at the same time, a wake-up call for the team”, he said.
“It’s a timely warning to the team that it’s not yet over, until it’s finally over. They will now have to sit tight, and I believe they are capable of springing surprises, especially as they have done in tight situations before now”
The Super Eagles will face the Wild Beasts in the reverse fixture at their Stade omnisport de Douala Douala Cameroon makeshift home ground.
Nigeria still top the Group C on six points. Cape Verde and CAR, on four points apiece, are in second and third positions respectively. Liberia are bottom of the group, on three points.
