82nd Birthday: Sportspro News celebrate former Eagles Goalkeepers’ Trainer, Amusa Adisa

The Publisher and CEO of Sportspro News, Bayour Issah has congratulated the former Goalkeepers’ Trainer of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Coach Amusa Adisa on the occasion of his 82nd birthday anniversary.

Speaking about the virtues of the Octogenarian, the ace Sportscaster described him as a great patriot who served the Country passionately and duly with all sincerity.

“Coach Amusa Adisa is a great man of honour. His leadership qualities and generosity virtues has touched many lives and he will forever be celebrated” said the Sportspro News Boss.

“Baba Adisa’, as he is fondly called, has served this Country in many capacities and I believe his contributions to the development of football can’t be overemphasized. He is such an Enigma.

While wishing him more glorious years, he prayed to Almighty God to continue to grant the gaffer a more prosperous life and sound health.

Coach Adisa, who during his active days had a long stint with Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan, formerly WNDC Stars and IICC Shooting Stars would go on to play for Super Eagles of Nigeria and also served as the Goalkeepers’ Trainer of the team.

The former Police Officer and Ogbomoso-born gaffer who also served as the Head Coach of the University of Ilorin Football Team was famous for saving another Super Eagles’ talisman, Godwin Achebe’s penalty kick in the 1971 FA Cup final between Rangers International and WNDC Stars (Shooting Stars).

His heroic performance at the final played at the Onikan Stadium on October 23rd 1973 saw him  breaking the Achebe’s long streak penalty kick scoring records.

Coach Adisa donned the National colours between 1969 to 1970, and would come back to lead Goalkeeping department between 2002-2006.
