The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Mogaji has clarified that the state officially has no Beach Soccer Club, and that efforts is being intensified to have one, through due process.
Speaking to newsmen in Ilorin on the backdrop of insinuations that Kwara Beach Soccer team were left stranded in Kebbi, in the ongoing Second Round of Beach Soccer League, Mallam Mogaji added that the only recognized team from the state campaigning in the League is Nmanko Beach Soccer Club from Patigi, Kwara state.
One Abubakar Abdlrasheed Olayinka had send a message to a major WhatsApp Platform that Kwara team participating in the Second Round League in Kebbi was stranded and needed help, but the former squash champion denied knowledge of a team from the state taking part in the League.
“As far as I am concerned, Kwara has no Beach Soccer Club, talk less of fielding a team in the Beach Soccer League. We don’t even have the association in place in Kwara state. The only team I recognize, and which sort the assistance of the Commission when preparing to participate in the League was Nmanko BSC, from Patigi.
“We assisted Nmanko secure a bus from the Office of the Head of Service, and I addressed the players before they left the state for Kebbi. So, we don’t have a team officially from Kwara state participating in the Beach Soccer League.
“Again, nobody or group wrote or brings it to our knowledge that they will be representing the state in that competition. Kwara team cannot be stranded because we don’t send any team there. Our Governor had warned that on no account should any team travel for any competition representing the state without approval, and that’s the rule we have been enforcing.
Mallam Mogaji said that the state will soon constitute and inaugurate Beach Soccer Association in the state, in line with the laid down rules and regulations.
He also warned all Sports Association Secretaries to stop associating themselves with any arrangement that’s not in line with the rules of the Commission.
