YSFON/Kwara Commissioner of Police Cup: Police reaffirms commitment to youth development

The Kwara State Police Command has once again, pledged her commitment to continue to support youth development through sports.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Emienbo Tuesday Assayomo made this declaration in his office on Friday 25th March,  2022, when the Chairman and members of Kwara YSFON paid him a courtesy visit, in preparation for the commencement of the 15th edition of Kwara Commissioner of Police Cup for U-13 and U-17 Boys.

The CP, who reminded his guests that he arrived the state last year on the eve of finals of the 14th edition of the competition was so excited to meet such a laudable sports event which is engaging the youths and diverting their minds away from crime and criminalities in Kwara state. 

He promised to give out his best and that of the officers and men of the Command in supporting this year’s edition. The tournament commenced in the year 2004.

The CP also used the opportunity to commend the people and government of Kwara state for cooperating with the police in keeping the state safe, as he enjoined all Kwarans to give information to the police whenever they suspect any form of threat to peace in their neighbourhood.

Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of Kwara YSFON, Mallam Ademola Kiyesola thanked the CP and the Police Command for supporting YSFON and Kwara youth by keeping the tournament going over the years. 

He reminded the police boss that this year’s edition will include the female U-17 category, as promised during the finals and closing ceremony of the 14th edition last year.

He informed the CP that YSFON is ever ready to organise sporting events for the development of the youth at the grassroots.

Kiyesola also informed the CP that June 2022 had been fixed for the tournament and the need for earlier preparation towards the success of the programme.

The Secretary of YSFON in the State, Ayinde Wahab thanked the CP for his audience and support to YSFON. He informed him and senior police officers present at the meeting that youth are appreciating police contributions and they are waiting anxiously for the tournament to commence again.
