Emir of Ilorin approves Emir’s Cup tourney, as registration begins July 15

His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has approved the revival of the annual Emir’s Cup in his honour,  as requested by the Ilorin Emirate Football Council, led by its Chairman, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Adebayo Owolabi Agbaji Wopa.

The Emir, who gave the approval when the Committee visited the Monarch in his palace stressed that the tournament is aimed at promoting peaceful co-existence in the Ilorin and beyond.

Wopa however, assured the Monarch that transparency and inclusiveness would be adopted throughout the tournament in order to achieve the objective of the game which will kick-start in the month of September 2023. 

The Committee equally paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji today, to intimate him of the programme. 

The Committee presented souvenir for the completion to the Executive Chairman,  who is the donor of  the trophy for the competition. 

He praised and wished the Committee success.

Registration for the competition will commence on July 15th, 2023, as participation is open to all teams in the state.

The competition has also been endorsed by the Kwara State Football Association as one of the youth football development and empowerment platforms in the state, as Alhaji Wopa said that every stone will be left unturned, to have a hitch-free competition.
