The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has officially approved the registration of the Association of Football Legends, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of the body and ushering in a new era of legitimacy, growth, and broader impact within the football community.
The landmark approval formalizes the Association’s existence as a recognized entity, positioning it to expand its activities, attract partnerships, and deepen its contributions to grassroots and veteran football development across the country.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the Association, Isaac Bolatito, expressed profound appreciation to members for their unwavering commitment and resilience throughout the registration process.
“This achievement is a testament to the dedication, patience, and hard work of every member of this great Association. We have come a long way, and today’s success belongs to all Legends of the house,” he said.
The Association of Football Legends was founded by a group of retired footballers, coaches, and stakeholders who shared a common vision, to preserve the legacy of the game while giving back to society through mentorship and development initiatives.
Over the years, despite operating informally, the Association has built a reputation for organizing exhibition matches, supporting young talents, and engaging in community outreach programmes aimed at promoting the values of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, and supporting the vulnerable groups.
The group has also been instrumental in reconnecting former players, providing welfare support to members, and serving as a bridge between past and present generations of footballers.
With its new legal status, the Association is expected to scale up these efforts, attract sponsorship, and play a more structured role in the development of football in Nigeria.
Comrade Bolatito concluded by congratulating all members, urging them to remain united and committed as the Association embarks on this promising new chapter.
“This is just the beginning. Together, we will achieve even greater milestones,” he added.
