Bankole commends Kwara Gov as state begins renovation of Volleyball Courts

The Chairman of Volleyball Association in Kwara State, Bashorun Kayode Bankole has heaped praises on the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his timely intervention in renovating the twin Volleyball Courts at the Kwara State Stadium Complex.

Bashorun Bankole, who also doubles as the Vice Chairman of Kwara State Football Association made the remarks during a working visit to the courts, which are currently undergoing renovation in line with international standard, towards the development of the game in the state.

Noting the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the game, he said the New Year will witness series of activities that will make up the loss of 2020, as he assured the best of performance from the state volleyball team at the upcoming Edo National Sports Festival.

“We rounded up the year 2020 with Top three Volleyball Championship sponsored by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Sports Development, Mallam Attahiru Ibrahim and the other competitions powered by the former Commissioner for Works, Honourable Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu, which involved teams from Lagos and Niger”, the Chairman recalled.

He revealed among many other programmes for the New Year are Hellbank championship,

Inter-Secondary Volleyball tournament and inter-club volleyball female competition, which are expected to be staged on the newly re-touched courts.

Speaking on the background of Kwara State Sports Commission which is being initiated by the State Government, Bankole, who was a Special Assistant on Youth and Sports Development to the former Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed, believes that the approach will turn things around for sports development in the state.

Architect Oriyomi Emmanuel, the Supervisor of the project in a chat with newsmen commended the Governor for bringing life back to the courts after many years of abandonment.

Oriyomi, who stated that Volleyball players in the state have been deprived the best of facilities for training and matches said the newly remodeled courts will stand the test of time and be of great use to their advantage.

The reconstruction exercise is expected to bring about a new look of the facilities which will be ready for use in no distant time.
