The current handler of Nigeria’s national female cricket team, the Female Yellow Greens, Coach Leke Oyede has poured encomiums on the Organizers and lead sponsor of the South-South Female Cricket Leagues, (SSFCL) for the measurable impact on the girls.
“I have been here to watch the past two editions of SSFCL finals and I commend the organizers for a job well done. I have been seeing some outstanding cricket activities which I am very glad about.”
Coach Leke was speaking after he arrived in Benin, Edo State capital ahead of the SSFCL Super Four finals starting on Saturday, 10th February, 2024.
“I will be a good one to see the girls in action from Saturday. I once again salute the Edo State Cricket Association for having this exciting cricket activity in their State. The players in this axis are given good opportunities to play a lot of games in several tournaments. The impact on the girls has been superb.”
Coach Leke, a former national team player also added that the girls competing with the U17 boys have turned out very positive results on the girls when it comes to international assignments.
Nigeria Female Yellow Green players such as Favour Eseigbe, Lillian Ude, Blessing Etim, Kafayat, Salome, Esther Sandy, and many others are expected in fantastic cricket action this weekend.
In recent years, the Nigeria National Female cricket team has been able to defeat teams such as Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya who have always dominated against Nigeria. Thanks to competitions like SSFCL supported by PET Foundation.
Coach Leke Oyede is expected to take charge of the senior girls from next week in preparation for the Invitational Series in Lagos and the All Africa Games in Ghana by March 2024.
