The tournament, which is geared towards discovery and nurturing of young talents at the grassroots, is being sponsored by Dr. Chukwudi Ogbolu, a medical practitioner, philanthropist and lover of Kiddies football.
The theme of this year’s edition is ‘enriching the sporting and academic life of the Nigerian kid’.
Eight highly reputable grassroots’ Kiddies’ Academies have been invited to participate in the competition, with the Most Valuable Player expected to be awarded one year academic scholarship.
The organizer of tournament, a La Liga trained Coach, Soni Ahamioje said it is a unique avenue to hunt and nurture young talents from the ages of 8 to 12 years.
According to him, “It is a novel tournament as the registration for participation is free, and all participating teams will get appearance fees.
“It’s going to be total football coupled with entertainment, skills, colour and glamour”. He added.
At the end of the competition, the best players will be sponsored to partake in the screening of U-12 Boys for the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) national competition, as well as the NPFL/LALIGA U-12 Promises.
He also promised to organize a hitch-free tournament that will be worthy of emulation.
While thanking the sponsor of the competition, Ahamioje called on the well to do in the society to emulate the philanthropic spirit of Dr. Chukwudi Ogbolu, and assist the youths in both their sporting and academic programmes.
