End of 2025/2026 NPFL season: NFRA commends Referees, Assessor on successful outing

The Nigeria Football Referees’ Association (NFRA) felicitates Referees and Referees’ Assessors involved in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) over the successful completion of the 2025/2026 football season.

The Acting President of the association, Sir Kelechi Mejuobi made these known moments the final matches of the Week 38 encounter were observed to end the season.

Mejuobi who was in Port Harcourt, Rivers State witnessed one of the crucial final matches between Rivers United and Katsina United at the Adokie Amiesiemeka Stadium, at the instance of the NPFL praised the referees and assessors for wonderful outings.

Speaking to newsmen, the Acting President said that members of the NFRA deserve commendations for living up to expectations in all ramifications, adding that the interesting photo-finish nature of the 2025/26 NPFL season couldn’t have been witnessed but for the professional conduct of the arbiters’.

On behalf of the association, he was full of praises to match officials who showed exceptional displays during the season and obeyed the call for fair and firm officiating.

Accordingly, to him, the NFRA appreciates all efforts of match officials hence the institution of the Best Referee of the Year Award at the end of the season to appreciate efforts of the members while using the opportunity to honour late former Presidents.

The NFRA also thumbed up for the Referees’ Assessors who aside from monitoring the performances of the referees for development purposes queued into the NFRA new found measures of joining league organisers of protecting match officials at league venues and also cooperating with the NFRA Ad-hoc Committee on Security and Safety Monitoring of the Referees.

The Acting President reiterated the unreserved resolve of the NFRA towards ensuring its members remain strong apostles of fair and firm officiating in Nigeria football leagues.
