Former DOS, Kazeem heads Kwara United Special Fund Raising Committee

*Senator Ashiru, Offa LG Chairman, MOK launches jersey

Former Director of Sports in Kwara State, Mallam Tunde Kazeem has been appointed as the Chairman of a five-man Committee to raise funds for the state’s darling team, Kwara United Football Club.

The Committee, tagged, ‘Kwara United Special Fund Raising Committee’ also has Veteran Broadcaster, Bayour Issah, Chief Mrs. Abimbola Olaoye of Olabim Football Academy, and the Vice President, North Central of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Olayinka Owolewa, while Ahmed Abdullah will serve as the Secretary of the Committee.

Mallam Tunde Kazeem, who was the former Chairman of Directors of Sports Forum in Nigeria is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kazolinks Consult Limited, Ilorin.

The Committee was constituted to market the brand, as part of its obligations of the club, and to complement the contributions of the state government to the team.

The Committee has been endorsed by the Kwara State Sports Commission, and is being supported by the Kwara State Football Association.

In its first assignment in Offa, Offa Local Government Area of the state, the Committee got supports from Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Olatunji Sulaiman and Muhydeen Okunlola (MOK).

While receiving the Committe in his country home yesterday Sunday February 16, 2025, Senator Ashiru, who is the Deputy Chief Whip in the Red Chambers commended the enthusiasm of the Committee, as well as the initiative behind the move to create additional finance window, to assist the club.

“There is no way you can run sports without huge investment. Football itself is capital intensive, so, you are in the right track. I like your enthusiasm and strength of mind”, he said.

He launched two jerseys for N2m naira.

The Chairman of Offa Local Government Area, Hon. Sulaiman Olatunji, who had the privilege of being the first Chairman to launch the jersey commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his love for sports, adding that the Local Government Chairmen had no choice than to emulate him.

“We have a good leader in Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. He is a lover of sports, and that has given us the motivation to emulate him. We will continue to do our best for sports at the grassroots”, he said.

Equally, Hon. Muhydeen Okunlola (MOK), while launching the jersey, commended Kwara United Football Club for its strides in the ongoing season.

“Government needs the support of every individual to be able to provide the necessary basic needs of human endeavors. It’s based on these, that, as one of the objectives of our foundation, we are supporting the Club”, he averred.

As part of his developmental objectives, MOK also supported Kwara United FC.

The Committee is expected to seek support from the two other Senators in the state, House of Representatives members, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi and other House of Assembly members, Commissioners, other political office holders, contractors, corporate organizations and philanthropists.

The Committee was inaugurated today, Monday February 17, 2025.
