International FA emerges champions of Adewole Elites Football Tourney


International Football Academy, Ilorin has emerged the champions of the maiden edition of Adewole Elites Movement (ADEM) soccer fiesta 2020, after defeating Debby FC 4-3 on penalties.

Isaac Ogiri had put Debby FC on level terms with his firework at the 72nd minutes to cancel Olamide Mudasiru penalty in the 55th minutes before the kick from the spot affairs eventually produced  International FA as the winner of the keenly contested encounter at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex yesterday.

Mr Abdulrauf Olaomi, the President of ADEM, while speakingto the newsmen noted that the competition was put together to unite all the people of Adewole Community and its environs, and to equally curb youth restiveness. 

Olaomi revealed that the tournament was organised to honour Barrister Ibraheem Atanda who he said has contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of Adewole Community, thus the need  to appreciate him for giving back to the society.

In his remarks, Barrister Ibraheem Atanda expressed satisfaction with the tournament and also thanked the organisers for deeming it fit to acknowledge him.

He believes that the tourney will serve as an eye opener for the people of the Community and also provide opportunity for them to explore other means in engaging the youth and the public meaningfully, as they geared towards the development of the Community.

A one time Secretary of ADEM, Raheem Rafiu Arikewuyo lauded  the initiative and harped on the need to sustain the initiative as a means of improving youth productivity with the view of getting the best out of them in the future.

Earlier before the final, a novelty match between Barrister Ibrahim Atanda best eleven and ADEM selected was latest, with the former winning the encounter by 2-0.

The football fiesta, which featured 16 teams saw Young Antlas winning the third place final after walloping Elite FA 4-0.

The final also witnessed  presentation of certificate and cash prizes to outstanding players; with Ishola Ibraheem Abubakar getting the Highest Goal Scorer award, Sheun Ogunlana of Debby FC won the Most Valuable Player of the competition.

Abdulrahman Taofeeq of International FA clinched the Best Goalkeeper award, Laderin United also went home with Most Disciplined Team recognition while Coach Obadagbagbe Ibrahim  of Ibrafix was recognized as the Well Dressed Coach of the tournament.

Guests at the event includes the former Secretary General of the defunct Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Ambassador Fanny Amu (MON), Salman Abdulrahman Kala, President Adewole Progressive Association, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo, the CEO and Publsiher of Sportspro News, Bayour Issah among many others.
