Chairman of Katsina State Football Association Alhaji Aminu Balele Kurfi has supported the camp of the Flying Eagles in Abuja with a cash donation of seven hundred and fifty thousand naira, to boost their morale ahead of the AFCON U-20 qualifier tournament.
The renowned philanthropist turned football administrator, who also doubles as a member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical and Development Committee said he was delighted to watch the Flying Eagles preparatory friendly game against Nasarawa United FC which ended 4-2.
Alhaji Balele Kurfi, who was in company of other NFF chieftains, Shehu Dikko, 2nd Vice President of the NFF, Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, Chairman of the Technical Committee of the NFF and host of football stakeholders at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja commended the players and technical crew of the team led by coach Ladan Bosso for their performances.
“There is a need for the team to keep improving in every game. No easy games anymore anywhere in the world, so every player must work hard. It is my pleasure to give the team N500, 000, and N250, 000 to the backroom staff,” Kurfi said.
“The U-20 team is very important and this team must be encouraged by every football Nigerian to excel and qualify for the African Youth Championship,” he added.
“I will be glad to support the team with N15m if the team can make Nigerians proud to pick the qualification ticket at the regional AFCON U-20 tournament,” he further stated.
The regional U-20 tournament was initially meant to be hosted by Togo, but the West African nation pulled out of hosting the tournament, citing the increase of Covid-19 cases in the country and a new host nation is yet to be announced by CAF.
