The Katsina State team has emerged the winners of the 2025 Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) National U-15 Boys soccer tournament, held in honor of Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, the Sarauniyar Bauchi.
In the final match, Katsina State secured a convincing 2-0 victory over their opponents from Kaduna state, after a dominant display all through.
In the third-place match, Bauchi State emerged victorious with a 5-0 win over Yobe State.
The Present of YSFON, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna commended the wife of Bauchi Governor, Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, the Sarauniyar Bauchi, for.her dedication and passion for sports development.
Justice Habibu Idris, YSFON’s Vice President for the North East zone, also expressed gratitude to the 16 participating states for making the event memorable. He emphasized the significance of such tournaments in developing young talent from the grassroots level and promoting unity among players and coaches.
The wife of Bauchi State Governor, Hajiya Aishatu Bala Mohammed, congratulated the winner of the Sarauniyya YSFON U-15 soccer tournament and commended the losers for making the event exciting. She was represented by Retired DIG Sani Mohammed.
In her speech, the First Lady expressed gratitude to the Organizing Committee, officials, and state teams’ representatives for their efforts throughout the week-long event, and also acknowledged their hard work in making the tournament a success.
The Hon. Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Adamu Babayo Gabarin, who was represented by the Director of Sports, Danbala Muhammad, praised the maturity displayed by players, coaches, and officials during the competition.
The tournament drew participation from 16 teams across various states, including: Yakson Football Academy, Jos, Abteema Football Academy, Maiduguri, Sahel Football Academy, Dapchi, Yobe, Sunshine Boys, Adamawa, Emphraim Boys, FCT, United Boys, Bauchi, Half Football Academy, Hadejia, Jigawa, Kebbi YSFON Stars, Mailantarki Care Football Academy, Gombe, Bida Boys, Niger, Sarauniyya Boys, Bauchi, Ondo State YSFON Starlet, Katsina YSFON Boys, Ganduje Babes, Kano, Ekiti YSFON and Young Star Football Academy, Kaduna State
These teams showcased their skills and competed fiercely throughout the competition.
