Kwara Sports Commission commends performing Sports Associations, charge others ahead 2024 activities 

In what is more or less a message of encouragement and urge to do more, especially in the New Year 2024, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji in his message thank his athletes, coaches, members of staff and Sports Associations for the achievements of the outgone Year.

In a message tagged “Executive Chairman’s New Year greetings, Mallam Magaji year 2023 as another transformative year for Kwara State Sports Commission, adding that “it was a year in which we strengthened our performances in various sporting activities, growing our talented youths by giving them opportunities to represent the State at various turnaments.

While commending the Sports Writers Association (SWAN) for their support, adequate and prompt reportage of our various activities, he promised the athletes and coaches that 2024 is set to be another exciting year for the Commission. 

“We can look forward to working further on the many initiatives to deliver the best services and improve on last year’s performances.

Executive Chairman’s New Year greetings.

Happy new year to you all! I hope you celebrated the start of 2024 safely and in good spirits with family and friends. As we mark the final days of the festive season, I want to take a moment to look back on 2023 and thank you all for your contributions over the past 12 months.

2. 2023 was another transformative year for Kwara State Sports Commission. It was a year in which we strengthened our performances in various sporting activities, growing our talented youths by giving them opportunity to represent the State at various turnaments this initiative help to guarantee our continued success in the future.

3. Working together we made good progress toward our strategic goals despite significant challenges 

4. I was proud to see how quickly we adapted to each new challenge and how teams from across sports Associations collaborated with one another to make the most of every opportunity. Great examples of these include the success recorded in National sports festival, National Youths games, 2nd edition of Para sports festival and various Associations outing at National and international levels.

5  On the note of the above, I want to commend some Associations for their outstanding performance in the year 2023 viz

I. Squash

ii. Scrabble

iii. Table Tennis

iv  Badminton

Subsequently I implore other Associations to wake up from slumbering, I believe we can all do better with enabling environment and facilities at our disposal.

6. We also took other important steps, such as redeeming the lost glory of sports in Kwara State by reviving schools sport to help in talent discovery at grass root level.

7. Over the past year you’ve all demonstrated over and over again our strengths as Commission and made clear that when it comes to United Group, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. This is because we are an ambitious team that sets high goals and a talented team that works hard to achieve the set goals.

8. I also want to use this opportunity to commend the Sports Writers Association  (SWAN) for their support and adequate and prompt reportage of our various activities, thanks so much. Let us do it better in 2024.

9. 2024 is set to be another exciting year for us. We can look forward to working further on the many initiatives to deliver the best services and improve on last year’s performances.

10. I want to thank you for your continued commitment and effort. Every one of us has an important role to play in the work ahead and I’m confident that together we will achieve great things.

11. The year 2023 is not without challenges, we have reviewed our last year’s operations, our areas of strengths and weaknesses had been identified. We hope to build on our areas of strengths and improve in areas of weaknesses.

12. To improve on area of weaknesses, this will propel us to take some critical and radical decisions in line with Public Service Rules.

13. We are committed to make changes on the system we inherited from defunct Sports Council. On this note I want to implore all staffers to flow in the direction of tides because wind of positive change is blowing and you either bend or break to this wind of change.

14. Once again, I wish you and your loved ones a happy and successful 2024.
