Kwara State Football Association vows to clamp down on violators of protocols

Kwara State Football Association (Kwara FA) has vowed to clamp down on any individual or group that henceforth, violate grassroots football development protocols, as outlined in the regulations guiding association football.

While addressing the Congress of the Association today, Sunday January 19, 2025, at the Football House, Ilorin, the Chairman of the Association, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa pointed out that the move became imperative, to ensure proper coordination of football development activities.

Mallam Musa, while highlighting the grounds covered so far by his association, averred that the FA is not happy with how football is being run in the state, promising to continue to protect the integrity of football without fear and favour.

“Starting from the Local Football Councils, which we expected to submit scorecards of their achievements so far, no competition must hold without the approval of the Football Councils or Football Association, as our primary duty was to control the organisation, and equally organise competitions to discover talents.

Popularly known as Thuraya, Mallam Musa also charged that no grassroots competition must be held without the usage of certified coaches, badged referees, provision of security, ambulance and other protocols, as outlined in the Rules and Regulations of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), as derived from CAF and FIFA Statutes.

The Chairman of Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), Coach Ashifat Sulaiman and that of Kwara Foofball Coaches Association, Coach Tunde Sanni also tasked stakeholders on organisation of competitions with well defined objectives, aimed at enhancing total discovery and development.

Meanwhile, the Congress of the Kwara State Football Association has passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the football controlling body, being led by Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa.

At the Congress held at the State Football Secretariat in Ilorin today, and attended by virtually all the Congress members, Bashirun Kayode Bankole (Kwara South), Mallam Idris Jibril (Kwara North) and Alhaji Mujib Erubu (Kwara North) praised the Chairman of behalf of others.

Speaking for Kwara South, Bashorun Bankole, who is the Vice Chairman of FA and Chairman of Oke-Ero Football Council said that Thuraya has firmly established Kwara on the map of Nigeria football.

“On behalf of Kwara South, we pass a vote of confidence on our Chairman, for putting the state on the map of football development in the state. It now beholves on us to continue to justify that, by been good ambassadors of the FA and the state, whereever we find ourselves”, he said.

Patigi Local Football Council Chairman, Mallam Idris Jibril, speaking for Kwara North, said that the region isn’t regretting producing the State FA Chairman, as he has so far, done creditably well.

For Kwara Central, the Chairman of Asa Local Football Council, Mallam Mujib Erubu equally passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the FA, even as he called for the completion of all pending competitions.
