The Kwara chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has joined other well wishers in rejoicing with the new leadership of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), over their peaceful election which ushered in Mallam Lanre Ahmed Abdullateef as the new Chairman.
A statement signed by the State Secretary of the association, Olayinka Owolewa, described the process which brought the new executives into power as free and fair, which they said, should be emulated by the contemporary politicians to enhance justice and equity.
SWAN implored the new exco not to allow their personal interest to jeopardize the interest of the Union, and to work towards justifying the confidence reposed in them by distinguished members of the pen pushers to accelerate development.
According to the statement “we urged Lanre Ahmed and his team to work towards unifying all members in their engagements to move the Union to the next level and shun any act capable of tarnishing their image”
The statement prayed God to bestow the new leadership with divine wisdom from the above to steer the ship of Kwara NUJ to the Promised Land.
