Kwara United Football Club will tomorrow, Wednesday December 6th, 2023, take on second placed Doma United in the Matchday 12 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in what looks more like the toughest fixture of the Mid-Week clashes in the series.
Having lost just two of their matches so far in the season, and recording six flawless wins in the league after 12 games, the Savannah Tigers no doubt hold a credible credential ahead of the crucial encounter against a never-say-die Kwara United.
Doma United are placed second on the current league standing with 21 points from 11 games, winning six, including a derby victory over City rivals Gombe United, drawing three and losing two.
Kwara United is placed on the 11th position with three wins, five draws, including three away draws, and have lost three matches so far, against Katsina United, Enyimba FC and Bayelsa United.
But for Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo, a win over Gombe United last week and an away draw against Akwa United in Eket on Sunday will serve as enough motivation for Kwara United, who may have gotten over their shaky start to the season.
The combination of Sadeeq Yusuf, Godwin Oshagbemi, Samuel Ayanrinde and Samson Paul must be clinical in front of goal, especially against Doma United goalkeeper, Kingdom Osayi, who has kept seven consecutive clean sheets. He did not concede a single goal in all six games in November, and has been nominated for NPFL Player of the Month for November.
Kwara United’s midfield must also play without losing concentration against the young and enterprising Doma United. They should not also underrate the Premier League new comers.
Much would also be expected from Kwara United’s defence, with Ejeh Isaiah, Kabir Mohammed, Kabir Balogun and Rahman Olanrewaju expected to provide the needed cover for goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka.
This is a match Kwara United must win, to underscore their determination to compete for the NPFL title.
