The leadership of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Kwara State Branch on Monday August 18, 2025, paid a congratulatory courtesy visit to the reappointed Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Magaji, and other newly and reappointed permanent members of the Commission.

The reappointed permanent members of the commission includes Hon. Abubakar Dele, Kwara Central, Hon. Yinusa Abdullahi Lade, Kwara North and Mrs. Mojisola Yemisi Makanjuola, Kwara South, who was appointed for the first time as a permanent member of the Commission.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, Prince Ademola Kiyesola who led the delegation, congratulated the appointees and commended the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for its strategic investment in sports development, youth empowerment and other critical sectors in the state.

The YSFON executives also seized the opportunity to present the third-place bronze medals won by the Kwara team at the just-concluded 40th Anniversary of Ramat Cup international competition in Nasarawa State, organized in memory of the late Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, who died on February 6, 1976.

In his response, Mallam Magaji, who doubles as one of the patrons of YSFON, expressed profound appreciation to the body for consistently living up to expectations in the discovery and grooming of young talents while making record-breaking contributions to the annals of Nigerian football development.

The Executive Chairman further rewarded the bronze medal-winning team with a ₦50,000 cash gift and a promised of special gift for the tournament’s top striker, Adetoye Tobi, who netted 12 goals during the competition.

He also applauded the technical crew for their uprightness, discipline and the positive values they continue to instill in the young athletes, describing them as “good ambassadors of Kwara State.”

The visiting YSFON delegation included the Vice Chairman, Alhaji Gesinde Adedeji Fregene, Hajia Orisankoko and the State Secretary, Mallam Abdulwahab Ayinde.

In his remarks, the Director of Sports, Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Ibrahim Oladele Bako, commended the synergy between YSFON and the Commission, attesting that their joint efforts have continued to raise the bar of grassroots sports in Kwara.

He expressed confidence that with sustained collaboration, the state would win more laurels at national and international levels.

In the closing remarks, the Vice Chairman of YSFON, Alhaji Gesinde Adedeji Fregene reassured that YSFON Kwara remain committed to grassroots sports development and will continue to partner with the Commission and other sports stakeholders in raising the next generation of national and international football stars from the state.
